GEORGETOWN, Del. - DelTimes -- Rain Vasey, a first year student at Delaware Tech Community College in Georgetown, Delaware, received a scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00 from the Lyons Aviation Foundation to support her desire to get her private pilot license for a fixed-wing powered engine plane.

Rain is a third-generation aviator and has always wanted to be a pilot.  Her grandfather was in the US Air Force and worked on a B17 Bomber at Dover Air Force base in Delaware, and her dad was a mechanic for planes.  She has also grown up on ranch farm in Delaware, helping with crops and raising livestock.  Therefore, it is no surprise that her dream is to combine these two passions and become a crop duster pilot one day.  She wants to "stay on the agriculture side" as she says but also be able to fly.  This will give her the best of both worlds.  She is working on her Agriculture degree in college, and starting her flying lessons this summer.  When asked what this scholarship means to her, Rain responded, "You have no idea how excited I was when I got the call!  This is a huge step towards my dream of becoming a crop duster."
